Privacy Policy

Last updated: 21 August 2026

The short version: Pocket Finance is local-first. Your finance records are stored on your device and, when iCloud is available, in your private CloudKit database. Firebase is used for authentication, not as the finance-data store.

1. Summary

This policy explains how Pocket Finance (“Pocket Finance”, “we”, “us”) handles information when you use the Pocket Finance iOS app and this website. We do not sell your personal information and we do not use your finance records for advertising or tracking.

2. Data we use

Depending on the features you use, Pocket Finance may process:

  • Account information: email address, Firebase user ID, and identity information provided by Apple or Google when you sign in.
  • Finance records: accounts, transactions, bills, budgets, subscriptions, savings, debts, income and other information you choose to enter.
  • User documents: receipt images or documents you choose to scan or store in the app.
  • Preferences: currency, appearance, privacy mode, Face ID lock and reminder settings.
  • Support information: your email address and the contents of a message when you contact us.

Pocket Finance does not request access to your contacts, location, health data or advertising identifier.

3. Where data is stored

On your device: Pocket Finance uses local storage so your ledger remains usable offline.

Private iCloud / CloudKit: finance records are mirrored to the private CloudKit database associated with your iCloud account when syncing is available. Apple controls iCloud account security and availability under Apple’s terms.

Firebase Authentication: Firebase is used to create and authenticate your Pocket Finance account and to support email, Google and Apple sign-in. Pocket Finance does not use Firebase as the database for your finance records.

Google and Apple: when you choose one of these sign-in methods, the relevant provider processes the sign-in request under its own privacy policy.

4. Sharing and service providers

We share information only as needed to provide the features you request: authentication with Firebase and your selected identity provider, private sync with Apple CloudKit, and support communications when you contact us. We do not sell data, run ad tracking, or share finance records with advertisers.

5. Device permissions

  • Notifications: used for bill reminders you enable. These are scheduled locally on your device.
  • Camera: used only when you choose receipt or document scanning.
  • Photos: used only when you choose to save an exported report or select a receipt.
  • Face ID: used locally to protect the app when you enable the Face ID lock. Pocket Finance does not receive your biometric data.

You can change permissions at any time in iPhone Settings. Turning off a permission may disable the related feature.

6. Retention and account deletion

You control the finance records you enter. If you delete your Pocket Finance account in the app, we request deletion of the Firebase authentication account, remove the app’s local finance records, cancel local reminders, and remove the CloudKit-backed records when iCloud sync completes. Apple’s iCloud availability can affect how quickly a deletion is mirrored.

If you cannot access the app, contact us using the address below and include the email used for your Pocket Finance account. We may need to verify ownership before handling a request.

7. Your choices

You can use Pocket Finance in guest mode, sign in later, turn off notifications, export your financial summary, log out, or delete your account from the app. You can also contact us about access, correction or deletion requests.

8. Contact

For privacy questions or account-deletion help, email support@pocketfinance.app or visit our contact page.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when Pocket Finance changes. The “Last updated” date above shows when this page was most recently revised.
